Monday, September 26 | Come: an invitation to Shalom

Read Psalm 95

Over the past two weeks, we have looked at God’s mission and at the focus of that mission. God’s mission to restore shalom has two parts: to be known by all and for all creation to flourish.

Next, we said that the focus of this mission is both broad and specific. Everywhere and right here. Everyone and The One. God wants all people to know Him. God wants all creation to flourish. And God sends His people to specific parts of His creation and to specific people to make that happen.

At this point, the next logical question might be how are we to take part in God’s mission? What are our strategies? That’s what we’ll be looking at for the next three weeks.

This week, we begin with our first and most important strategy- Live fully in WORSHIP. Worship is a strategy? YES. And it is critical. See, when we worship, we set our eyes on God. We focus on who God is and what God is up to. In worship, we find ourselves fully alive as we have our eyes opened again to the reality of who we are in God’s world.  In worship we are realigned with God and His mission.

This week, as we learn about worship from Psalm 95, we see that worship happens at an invitation. Here in the psalm, the writer is inviting us to worship, but really worship is only possible because God invites us to come near. Because God wants to be known.

Worship is an invitation from God to see who God is and what God has done and then to respond.

Today, spend some time thanking God that He invites us to come near to Him, invites us to see Him, and invites us to know Him. Spend some time reflecting on the miracle that the God who created light itself wants us to see Him and know Him.
