Lent: A Season of Reflection - April 12 | False

April 12 | False

Read Mark 14:53-72

He remained silent. Jesus didn’t say anything in response to His accusers. Just as He didn’t resist His arrest, He was not compelled to offer up a response to every false thing the ‘witnesses’ said about Him.

After what we assume were hours of lies and false accusations, the high priest turns to Jesus. He asks a direct question. “Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?”

And after the betrayal of Judas, the abandonment of the disciples, the denials of Peter as he follows from a distance, we see the embodiment of Truth.

“I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.”

They weren’t knowingly believing lies, but they were blinded to the truth. They didn’t know how to deal with Truth. They spit on Truth. They hit Truth.  They condemned Truth to death.

If only they had been willing to listen, they would have experienced the freedom that comes in knowing truth! (John 8:32)

Today, ask God to reveal to you where you have been tempted to believe lies and to ignore the truth. Confess whatever He brings up, and ask for Him to show you to truth and to set you free with it.
