Journey Groups
In seeking to more fully understand God and how we relate to Him it can be frustrating to figure it all out on our own. When we look at the relationship between Jesus and his disciples in Scripture one of the details we could easily miss is the amount of time they spent together. They were involved in each other’s lives. That’s why at Harbor we say "Life is a Journey...Travel Together." We believe that we were designed by God to experience life and growth through rich and meaningful relationships.
The objective of Journey Groups at Harbor of Hope is to help God seekers, God followers and God doubters to unify and mature their faith and relationship with Jesus Christ. These groups are where Harbor’s community is manifested because the church begins when people share their lives and faith with each other. They are the ideal place to become a part of our community. The focus of each group is to care for each other, study Scripture & to serve in our communities.
If you consider Harbor of Hope to be your church home, then we want you to be connected, engaged, and invested in a Journey Group.
Here’s how Journey Groups work at Harbor:
In 2010, Harbor shifted to a seasonal Journey Group model. Groups now meet in 12-week sessions, which follow the seasonal calendar.
The benefits of this format include:
- Leaders and members have an easy way to enter and exit a Journey Group based on their availability, life season, and current needs
- People will have the opportunity to try different Journey Groups throughout the year
- The clear begin and end date fosters a greater sense of commitment while also promoting a high level of involvement and ownership during the session
-Groups meet in 12-week sessions, which follow the seasonal calendar.
-They meet in homes and here at Harbor of Hope throughout the week
-Group sizes vary but there are generally between 8 and 12 people in each
-At the beginning of each season (Fall, Winter, Spring, & Summer) we host an event at Harbor called GROUP LINK. At this event you’ll have the opportunity to meet the leaders of each of our Journey Groups, find out where and when they meet, and learn what they plan on studying during the upcoming session. This event is designed to help you determine which group would be right for you and to get you signed up.
Suggested steps to getting involved in a Journey Group:
